These 5 Life Choices Are Making You Miserable!

choicesAristotle once said that we become what we repeatedly do. It is good if what we repeatedly do is positive; but often we end up dealing with the same type of grief again and again. If you find yourself doing that, it is probably time to get rid of some bad habits you have developed. Rather than allowing our mistakes to conquer us, let’s learn from them and move on.

It is only when we stop doing the wrong things that the right things start to happen. Here are some ways to start…..

1. Being a pressure cooker.

Many times, we have the habit of keeping our thoughts, fears and emotions inside us. The pressure of all these thoughts in your head can’t be good for you. You will only start to feel, depressed, alone and stressed. Start talking to a confidant; your spouse, partner, sibling, friend; anyone who can be sympathetic and who understands you and can make you feel better. Don’t think that you will be troubling someone by talking about your problems. It is important for your mental health to be able to share your problems. You will only feel better.

2. Setting impossible standards.

Perfection is a trap from which you can’t get out of. Be fair to yourself and set reasonable standards for yourself. Give yourself the much needed break every now and then in the form of a massage, a shopping trip, or anything that relaxes you. Only when you do this can your mind and body be worry-free and this is important for rejuvenation. Realize that there is no such thing as perfect happiness. You will never reach a stage in life when something is still not missing. Enjoy and appreciate what you have and stop to smell the roses more often.

3. Go, go, go….

All of us get caught up with the responsibilities of work, family and routine. The trick is not to get so caught up that you lose connection with the most important people in your life and more importantly, yourself. If all your waking hours are filled with one routine or another, when will you get the time to meet up with your family and friends, or spend some much needed time with your hobbies? Take time out to relax because this is the only way you can recover mentally and physically. We hear of people with high blood pressure, high cholesterol and thyroid issues….these are people who have busy lifestyles without rest. If you don’t have much time to relax, practice meditation – the best way to relax instantly.

4. Expecting different results with no change in action.

We define a mad person as someone who does the same thing over and over again expecting different results. If you want to see changes, you need to try out new things or new ways. If you keep doing things the same way, you are obviously going to get the same results. Ask yourself every morning what you are going to do differently. If you want your relationship with your spouse to improve, what are you going to do differently today so you can see a change?

5. Ignoring the people you love.

We almost always put the most important people in our lives on the back burner when we get busy because we know they are the ones who will understand and wait for us. That is not something you should believe in anymore because the truth is that the people most important to you should always be at the forefront of your priority list. It is when we take things for granted that things get taken away from us. Appreciate your loved ones, love them with all you have, because there is no tomorrow. You don’t want to wait for them not to be in your life anymore to realize what they mean to you.

Start making the choices that define your future. Start doing good and feeling good. Make the changes you need to and start over because there is no better time than right now to build what you want. What are some changes that you want to make in your life today to be happier?
