5 Simple Ways To Be More Productive

productivityLiving in today’s society can be challenging and stressful due to our busy schedule. With the cost of living going up, it’s forcing some of us to work two jobs just to pay the bills. These challenges are making it harder for us to live a comfortable life. However, we can still enjoy the beauties of life by prioritizing our chores, so we don’t waste too much time doing something that is unproductive and tedious.

1. Reduce distractions

Distractions are very effective at destroying your productivity. Some of the most common distractions today are TVs, cellphones and social networks. It amazes me that some of us can spend a whole day or more playing video games, watching TV shows or chatting on FaceBook. If we put that much time and commitment into preparing for our future, most of us wouldn’t have to worry about money and not having enough time to do the things we enjoy. If you want to be more productive in life, reduce the amount of time you spend using these technologies. Also, use them wisely so that they don’t interfere with your goals and tasks.

2. Time management

Time is precious beyond any material thing, because it can’t be created. Once today is over, it’s over for good and nothing you do will bring it back. To manage your time better, make a to-do list and write down important events on your planner or cellphone. When you make a list of things to do, pay attention to the important ones and break them down into sections. In addition, include the estimated time for completing each section, so that you have a rough estimate of how long it should take to finish it. You may also want to add deadlines to help avoid procrastination.

3. Set goals with personal responsibility

Setting goals can help you finish your tasks faster. Goals can provide motivation and inspiration; therefore, they push you to become more productive. Goals can also give you a clear view of what you are aiming for. This will help you understand your goals at a deeper level, making it easier for you to be productive. To increase your success rate of achieving your goals, you need to be more responsible. Whenever you meet people who are productive and successful, they usually have strong qualities associated with personal responsibility. Having a strong personal responsibility empowers you to take actions with confidence, so that you can take charge of your life and not allow others to control you.

4. Exercise and spend time outdoors

Spending a little of your time to exercise every few days is important for boosting your energy and keeping you active. When you have energy, you are more likely to get off the couch and do some productive activities. Exercising on a regular basis is great for improving your health and strengthening your immune system. Being healthy is important for productivity, because you can’t do as many activities when you are sick. If exercising isn’t convenient for you, put on your shoes and step outside for some fresh air. Try to go outside on a sunny day because sunlight does a great job of boosting your energy. Besides increasing your energy, spending time outdoors can help reduce stress and clear your mind. When your mind isn’t focus on stress, it becomes easier for you to focus on finishing your chores.

5. Get enough sleep

Sleep is one of the most important things for keeping you productive, because it rejuvenates your energy. The lack of sleep can make you fatigue, which in turn causes you to be less productive. If your schedule is very busy, you may not have the luxury to sleep 6-8 hrs per day. In this case, try to take naps whenever you can. For some of us, sleeping can be difficult due to anxiety and stress. To prevent anxiety and stress from stopping you from sleeping, read a book or spend 10 minutes meditating before bed. These two techniques are great for calming and clearing your mind, so that you can fall asleep easily. One thing you shouldn’t do before bed is drink caffeinated beverages. Caffeine tends to keep you awake so save caffeinated beverages for the morning hours or when you are tired during the day.
